Friday Fire: Who’s Under More Pressure To Win Sunday – Donovan McNabb or Michael Vick?

Posted in Donovan McNabb, Michael Turner, Philadelphia Eagles, Philadelphia Eagles fans, Race and Michael Vick, race and quarterbacks, Race and Sports, Race and Sports Culture, Race in Sports on October 1st, 2010 by Ron Glover

Sunday’s contest between the Philadelphia and Washington Redskins will answer many questions concerning both teams and both quarterbacks. For Donovan McNabb, it’s his first in Philadelphia as a visitor, how will handle the crowd and his emotions to do well. For Michael Vick, he’s in a game that the Eagles want to win because it is afterall the Redskins and it’s McNabb. But more importantly for Vick it’s another turn on Redemption Road. This week it’s a Redskins defense that employs the 3-4 scheme.

Who is facing the most pressure heading into Sunday?

After going 12-4 last week, things get a little tougher in week 3. One game that has my interest is Pittsburgh at Tampa Bay. Both teams are 2-0, which we expected  from the Steelers, but the Bucs are reminding many of the upstart Bucs that blossomed under Tony Dungy. A young vibrant defense and a unheralded leader in quarterback Josh Freeman has things looking up in Tampa.

NFL Questions And (Maybe Some) Answers For Week 2

Josh Freeman

Yesterday was a pretty eventful day in the NFL, Mark Sanchez grew up in front of our eyes as the Jets put it on Brady and the Pats. Josh Freeman continues his steady progression. Michael Vick made his first start in almost four years and looked good enough to make Andy Reid’s nights a little less comfortable Meanwhile in Chocolate City Donovan McNabb had a banner day but ended up on the short end of a 30-27 shootout with Matt Schaub and the Houston Texans. Despite these goings on, I still have some questions and maybe some answers going into Week 3.

Let’s get dirty as we enter the trenches of the Eagles offensive line. Shawn Andrews has returned to the team after it was revealed that he had been battling depression. It looks like Andy Reid is going to slowly work Andrews into the starting rotation as he continues his recovery.

Two weeks ago the Philadelphia Eagles were supposed to use their 11 draft picks to catapult themselves back to the top of the NFC. After weeks of speculation Andy Reid and Co. had the chips available to land a true #1 receiver in the form of Chad Johnson, Roy Williams or Anquan Boldin didn’t they?
