Good, But Not Good Enough

While many are still trying to digest the fact that Kobe Bryant is the 2007-08 NBA MVP despite MVP-worthy seasons from New Orleans’ Chris Paul and Cleveland’s LeBron James. I’ve come up with a question.

Who was the best player in any sport or season (other than this season) not to win his/her respective league’s MVP Award.

In doing so lets steer from the Bryant, Paul or James debate. Feel free to utilize the other threads on the site for that discussion.

Miller on how Pistons center Jason Maxiell has found a successful way to post-up Magic center Dwight Howard: “(Jason Maxiell) has posed a lot of problems for Dwight Howard, who is about four inches taller (than Maxiell). He is using his legs to get underneath Dwight Howard a little bit down low. He’s not worried about the upper body strength of Dwight Howard He’s trying to get into his legs and bring him down to his size.”

Smith on the Dallas Mavericks being intimidated by their opponent the last two playoffs: “Last year, the Dallas Mavericks were intimidated to a degree by the Golden State Warriors. And it wasn’t just the fact that (Golden State) was better than (Dallas), but they felt they could be physical with them and they could intimidate them. So now it’s the first round against New Orleans and they are going to do what Golden State (did).”
