Ginobili on if the Spurs can win without a big game from center Tim Duncan: “Yes, I think we can (win without Duncan). He’s a very smart player and every time he is going to get blitzed defensively, he’s going to kick it (out). I think we’ve got good enough shooters to step up. I think we haven’t been making those shots in (New Orleans). If we add that part of the game (and play) solid, steady defense for four quarters…not just three, we have a chance (to win).”

Barkley on Game #7 of the Hawks/Celtics series: “I’m still going with the Celtics (to win the series), but if they lose (Game #7) it will be the biggest upset in NBA history. The Celtics need to relax. They don’t need to play in Atlanta (anymore); Atlanta has to win in Boston. Is everyone surprised this series has gone seven games? No question, but the Celtics have got to relax. That’s why they play the regular season; they’ve got the home court (advantage). Nobody talks about the job (Hawks head coach Mike Woodson) has done getting the Hawks to the playoffs. Everyone thought this series was going to be a Boston sweep. The Mavs have lost 12 of 15 playoff games

Just think, the last three MVP trophies are going fishing. The media crush around the Mavs and the Suns before this year was maddening. I just didn’t understand why people were so enamored with teams cottony soft in a playoff rock hard world. Say what you want about Flash’s 17 free throw a game average a couple of years back, but Dallas made its own bed that series and has never recovered.

And it wasn’t just the fact that (Golden State) was better than (Dallas), but they felt they could be physical with them and they could intimidate them.
