The talent was always there, but the Lig was definitely a different monster back then. What was young fella really going to do with Zo? KG definitely paid his dues but 12 years later yet and still has a passionate love for the game to make this moment happen.

The North Philly basketball legend will be missed on and off the court

This hurts. I’m sure my sadness for the city doesn’t compare to AG’s (Temple grad), but Staley’s presence here was on par with any of the men coaching in the city mainly because Dawn rescued a program that didn’t have a national identity before she took the job. She was 172-80 with six NCAA Tournament appearances. She was a prominent force at Temple, where John Chaney was–and still is–a college basketball coaching legend before he retired in 2006.

Her foundation has helped numerous at risk kids turn it all around.

In eight seasons she won 5 Big 5 Coach of the Year awards.

For seven seasons the Temple Men’s Basketball program has resembled that kid, who for whatever reason couldn’t get into the neighborhood house party. Although close enough to hear the music or maybe steal a peek inside the window, there was never enough room on the dance floor to work his way in. For all of he knew, the Big Dance was just a rumor.

Well, Temple coach Fran Dunphy and the rest of the Owls can go out and grab a new pair of shoes because Temple is going back to The Big Dance.
